I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, home to chocolate and peanut butter buckeyes — the best vegetarian burger on the planet — and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. I remember standing in line with family and friends outside the Short North in the middle of winter to get some of that creamy goodness. One flavor Jeni released in those chilly months was Influenza Sorbet. Full of ingredients you could enjoy even when you had a cold, it was also created to provide some relief from your ailments. The flavors are based on her mom’s and grandma’s classic home remedy of whiskey, honey, lemon — similar to one my mom would make. This cocktail is a nod to Jeni’s incredible creations and to all the moms who make us feel better when we’re sick.
